Craven Arms, often referred to as The Gateway to the Marches, is a small market town with a great location, situated between Ludlow and Church Stretton. It is the ideal base for exploring the Wenlock Edge and Corvedale Valley, with many stunning walks from the town to Stokesay Castle and the Shropshire Hill Discovery Centre. There are also some historic and attractive houses in the town, including a round house which is believed to have been a resting place for pilgrims travelling between Wigmore and Shrewsbury Abbeys. There is also the Museum of Lost Content, two miles away in the village of Wistanstow. The Plough Inn, a good local wood brewery, is also located nearby. Church Stretton lies close by and is surrounded by the Long Mynd and Caradoc Hills, which offer many picturesque walks and a renowned golf course. Furthermore, the historic towns of Bishops Castle, Ludlow and Shrewsbury are within easy driving distance – they feature magnificent castles, wonderful riverside walks, great shops, pubs, restaurants, exciting theatres and a selection of festivals. Craven Arms is an ideal base for discovering all that Shropshire has to offer, throughout the year.
